Critical Mass Jozi - 27 September 2013

Hi,

Just read this post. Intruiging. Tell me what it is all about. I gather its an evening cycle of some sort.

It's a group ride through Joburg at night, relaxed pace, all about fun. That last ride had about 60 people. The ride incorporates the suburbs and the city. Come to the December 2011 ride. You might get hooked like most others who try it.

Check out the first post for details of the next ride, on 27 January 2012. Bummer that the last one was a washout (although some hardy folks still threw a ride together). January 2012 ride promises to be the biggest yet...

Hi i ave just moved to joburg and am finally after a lot of procrastinating getting into fixed gear riding i have bought myself an old hansom prestige and i will slowly be turning it into something not only nice to look at but also to ride i was wondering if there is a big contingent of fixie riders who partake in critical mass here?

I ride a fixie, a few others do too, most people ride MTB, but there are all sorts of bikes and every bike is welcome

The ride on the 27th Jan 2012 was good, great turnout, about 60+ people, we stopped halfway in the city for a drink. Was probably too long for some (about 30km) so next one will be shorter. Next ride on 24 February 2012!

Heya Domestique.

I am in the process of twisting my landlords arm into joining for the ride. Will give you a shout if it does pull through. Thanks for the assistance.

What is this all about though? And how many people are doing it?

Hi there! Welcome to the hub :)

Critical Mass is a group ride from Dunkeld to the centre of town. It's a night ride. It has over 60 participants. It's a fun ride, not a race (perfect for me  )

Will be there this Friday with the family and as many cycling buds as I can muster.

I was there for the washed out one in December which turned into 11 of us noisy bastards doing a bit of a 'Skattejag' geocaching (google it) around Parkhurst. Was great fun but not really a CM ride.

I have done it brakeless. If you cant stop when you want to, rather use brakes, for your safety and for the safety of others. It's quite a big bunch and people shift around
