OK, so after last year's disaster, it's time again for the 340km schlep through the desert.

My base fitness is reasonable and I'm doing 10 to 15 hours a week. I still feel there is room for improvement as I want to finish the race in the 17 to 19 hour timeframe.

During the week I do 2-2½hrs at moderate to high intensity for 4-5 days and then I try for 3-5hrs a day on the weekends at moderate intensity. This should be enough?

I fly up on the 15th, the day before the race, so I effectivley have 34 days left.

Any training tips from the guru's?

Here is a slapped-together route profile for the 340km...

Hi Sias

You should be good for 17 hours. Last year I trained 8 to 10 hours a week and did 16:51. Rather start to focus on your race strategy. I started too fast, had to take it slow in the middle and then did the last 100km's in about 3 hours (it is flat/downhill).
