I gather you are a trackie. You can contact Stephan Salzwedel directly. He is the SA Track director. His details are on cyclingsa.com . He will be able to guide you on your issues. I do not know anything about Jean Spies, apart form what Google gave me. You can ask that to Stephen as well. CSA contributed around R1.9m to athletes going to various international championships/olympics, and other projects in 2024. That is more than what was gathered through calendar fees, levies and license fees etc. And just to make it clear, but I'm sure you are aware: CSA does not only consist of track cycling. Maybe you should become an insider, if you aren't/weren't already on the inside.

1. Bull s..t! There are only a small number of people that get a small salary and they are mostly admin staff. The rest of us don't get a single cent. We are all volunteers from various provinces and disciplines trying to keep the sport going. All of us were selected by our provinces and we are normal working people with families and other responsibilities to take care of. As far as competence goes, there may be more qualified and competent people out there, but none of them want to be in the structures, mostly because there is no money involved. I don't know if passion for the sport counts for anything? Probably not in your eyes. 2. We can dictate within CSA and UCI sanctioned events in as far as you have to be a CSA licensed rider to compete in National championships and UCI events. Outside of that you can do whatever you please. If, like a certain pedo, you bring the sport, CSA and the cycling industry into disrepute, we will have nothing to do with you and your business and we will make certain that the international bodies know about it as well. 3. Yes it can be and is that difficult. I take it you know the whole process from UCI to Africa to SA national(champs in road, BMX, XCM, XCO and gravel and national series in XCO and XCM) to provincial(champs in road, XCM and XCO plus provincial series in XCM and XCO) to private series (Trailseeker etc.) to kerkbazaar races? Oh yes, and the school series as well. To keep everyone happy is an impossible task and we can only do so much. Of course any well thought out suggestions would be most welcome! For example - which of the 17 races in March would you have us cancel because they take place in the same week of the Epic? Or the 9 races in different provinces on the same weekend as the Maluti in Apr? Or the 8 races on the same weekend as the XCM champs in May? Which ones would you move to different dates? Just my 2cw.

Just got going after the taxi hit me in March, then got a bad case of flu and been off the bike for three weeks. So ja, not the best, but I'll get going again next week.

Thank you for everyone's contribution. I have taken this week off and I'll have a braai and a few beers over the weekend and plan on starting next week with a few short MTB rides. I don't have anything planned in the next few months, so there is no immediate pressure. I'll just get going slowly. Thank you to the community!

I was hit by a car on the 21st of March (attempted murder case) and suffered some deep cuts and bruises and was out of hospital on the same day with a very sore body. Obviously I did not train much, but had the Maluti D90 on the 6th of April. I did the race in 6H09 which is not too bad for the conditions I think. Since then, I'm not very much in the mood for riding. Has anyone else experienced this and what advice would you give me - keep riding or give it some more time off the bike. I'm not really emotionally scarred by the incident (I think), my body might just not be ready yet?

Mostly yes. It does die down somewhat during the night from about 20H00, but picks up again as you get closer to the coast. We once had a tail wind most of the way in 2015 and rain in 2019 on the first 2 stages, but other than that, it was hot, dusty and headwind most of the way.
