XCO#1

Location: S33 57 26.4 E22 31 46.8

Route Description: Main Categories

Distance: 5.7km

Climb: 134m

Start on the edge of the forest opposite the corner of the soccer field turning immediately onto single track, turning hard right, over protruding roots leading down the slight incline to cross the bog and the pallet bridge across a ditch. Now for a short climb on some of the original single track at Saasveld for a fast flowing section to cross the service road into Drop One. For the not so technical riders, hang a hard left, then hairpin right hander to join the riders coming down the drop in the service road. Now for a short distance through some indigenous forest to climb out towards the T-junction, turning right for a low grade climb on towards the main service road, turning right again at the top of the climb. A short flat section to grab a drink, then turn left onto single track again which runs through the Grave Yard and some fast flowing track over some light technical rocks to join up with the service road next to the Garden Route Dam. Enjoy this flat section of road to turn right in the corner onto some single track that will lead up the Damn Climb. This track pops out in the T-junction of the main service road, which will be crossed at an angle, straight onto some fast single track leading down into the Valley, to cross the stream over a sturdy wooden bridge and climb out hard on the switchbacks. Cross the service road at the top into some young pine forest to get to Pig’s Paradise and over the Big Drop. For the non-technical riders, keep left above the drop to circle around to join up with the other riders coming down the drop in the service road. Now for a short section of road through some indigenous forest again to the last sharp leg burning climb over some exposed tree roots to the Finish Line and Feed Zone when exiting the forest next to the main tarmac road.
