Cuts and puntures in road tyres

I have a pair of Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks on my road bike.

They have done around 1500k's and seem to be in good condition.

I have had three punctures (small) in the rear tire, and I notice there is a cut on the tire about 20mm long.

Is it safe to keep riding on these or do I need to replace?

Soft compound tyres tend to get surface cuts very easily.

Glass etc can find its way into these cuts and eventually puncture the tube.

Filling the cuts with silicone or super glue could extend the life of the tyre a little.

That sounds like the tips that win lekker prizes in local cycling magazines. :D

Have road my road tires for two years and about 4000km's full of cuts should probably replace them or maybe try the superglue idea!

Aaaaah thanks for that.

So I just put a few drops of the glue in the cuts?

first you have to take the tire off the you put the glue in and press the cut close for a minute or so after that wait till the glue is completely dried and then reinstall
