I tried to look for common kit, but they all seemed to be wearing different kit, also in the dark it was kinda hard to read what was on the kit.

ER24, 90% of the guys were pretty visible with the bright fast flashing rear lights , some of them had pretty bright front lights too, but these guys need to be aware of the dangers around them. Taking up an entire lane is crazy, and then having someone moving over into the right lane ontop of that is insane. Not to mention the skipping of red lights at that time of the morning.

Every weekend there is a minimum of 1 traffic light or lamp post taken out, normally clean off its mounting into the concrete, this should be enough indication of the dangers of traveling on that road.

You have the street racers racing from Burger Box, you have all the clubs in the area with their drunk drivers, and then you have the guys who just dont give a dam, its a recipe for disaster.

I have been accosted/flirted with/laughed at/questioned/greeted/any other form of human interaction by people smoked/drunk/high out of their minds on that stretch of road in the wee hours.

Never had any real problems but statistically I reckon there will be an accident/incident involving a cyclist sometime soon.

The Virgin Active group also tear down that street en mass with little to no regard for red lights/traffic etc. One "CLEAR" and it's back to rocking the 53x12...

Each to their own I suppose.

I live on a street that run parallel to that road, there is ALWAYS a car or bike tearing it up and down, always tyres screeching, always sirens blaring. I will not cycle on that road.

when they closed off my suburb the only exit was onto North Rand road, thankfully the law made them leave a pedestrian entrance on the other side. It does mean a short stint over the pavement to get in and out, but I'd rather risk that than getting onto that road.
