B-Active Sports Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 IF everyone is complaining about TSA, why doesnt anyone start their own association ? It recently happened in motorsport when a new motorsport association started (WOMZA) and MSA challenged them in court. MSA lost the big court battle to WOMZA and both exist today. B-Active you guys should look at this. We have already looked into this. All the Multisport EO's in SA met a few months ago and had discussions with the Dept of Sport and Recreation. Unfortunately Motorsport got away with it through a technicality, but we have been assured from Sascoc that no other national body can be formed and will be recognised by them. ( "So what do we get for being registered TSA athletes? we help TSA raise the profile of the sport? negotiating power with sponsors? what sponsors?? TSA has never brought any sponsors to the sport. if it wasn't for the Lotto grant (and we know why they got that) and of course the sanction fees and day license fees they charge the event organisers they would be broke. i have never seen another governing body that does so little for their respective sports. their only concern is money!! being a member of TSA means absolutely nothing just ask Dan Hugo" )- We couldn't agree more on this. We (EO's) have been made the sole funders for TSA (as Lotto pays for equipment) and we are not happy about being the cash flow for a national body, Sponsors should be sort by them to boost the sport. Anyway, this is only something new to you, but we have been battling this for over 18 months now with TSA and no joy, so rather than working against then, we are now trying to work with them... sort of! Come 1st Sept 2012 buy an annualy TSA lic and lets hope that if we get enough registered athletes the TSA charges on events will drop and we can keep our entry fees down!! Cheers guys.
Guest Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 As far as I know you can use MTB, where did you hear that? Under FAQ's http://www.5150.co.za/information/faqs 18. What type of bike can I use?You can use a triathlon bike/time trial bike, conventional road bike or mountain bike not sure if that was a question or are you speaking to yourself? But yes, under FAQs...I thought I would be required to sport a tri/road bike.

Does the sport triathlon belong to them then? Do they own it? What if you hold a different competition with a different format? Say Run 10km first, then swim 1km and then cycle 35km, is it still triathlon etc? What about basic human rights of an athlete? Am I not allowed to do these three disciplines together for fun without paying other people money? I think you must start holding non-competitave events in which an entry fee is required but only to cater for the expenses you guys undertake. 99% of guys dont give a **** for the prize money, I just want a lekker fun day out with some fellow athletes.... Milkworx Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Quick question, what distance do you swim in your training sessions for the 5150?
Garfield2010 Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 I will only start to swim mid August. And I wont swim more than 1km at most.
etiennejpretorius Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Gants/Ladies, I need some advice please. This is my 1st triathlon. Question, what do you do with your water bottles, etc. when checking in your bikes? Regards. Etienne
Davey_Jones Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 (edited) You have to leave them on your bike. No entry to bikes after racking in the morning. Most people freeze the bottles overnight. You check your bike in early and then they sit on the bike in the sun till race time. By then if not frozen before they are actually quite warm. On the bike turn around you can pick up bottles of pump water from the hydration point if you want to chuck your current bottles or just stop and fill them up.
