stanchion damage

I have the following problem.

a stone banged up by the front wheel hit the right stantion on my fox f100 leaving three "dents" in it.

and it's already sheding a bit of oil because of this but will i be able to fix the stanchion or is it a write off/buy new?

first thing to do is use 600 grit waterpaper and make sure there are no burrs (raised pieces of metal ) that will damage your wipers. No doubt you will have to service your fork more often as there will be some dirt ingress. But it will still give you lots of good miles.

 

you will in time need to replace the fork ( you can replace just he uppers, but it is often so expensive you may need to just replace the whole shooting match)

have since done some research and found that it is do-able.

1200-1400 wet and dry paper patience and hard laquer paint or nail varnish...
