Wrist support?

Do you ride with wrist support at all, if so what do you recommend?

I was thinking the EVS wrist stabiliser, but Im worried about the bit in the palm.

Is the EVS wrist support supportive enough?

and is the EVS wrist brace too much?

Why not get the gloves?

EVS Wrister (approx R600 from most MX shops)

I don't ride with wrist support, but I did break my right wrist last year during a DH provincial.

When I did eventually get riding again I used one of those cheap wrist supports you can get from Dischem (about R70). Something like this

Even though it has got the palm covering, it should fit under your gloves, Takes a little getting used to having such a padded palm, but evenrually you don't notice it. One real con I noticed is that the neoprene gets very sweaty and slippery.

Looks like a good glove, Patches... It'd certainly have more support than that little Dischem number, being incorporated into a full-finger glove like it is...

Yeah, it is a rather nice glove. I've tried a pair on before. That "spine" on the top of the wrist restricts movement for good and for bad. I personally would only wear something like that for a recovering wrist. My wrists like their freedom, haha

EDIT:

@Rich, As mentioned above, I ahve only tried them on while in the store. I haven't ridden with them. I'm also a cheapskate when it comes to gloves and usually try buy for les than R200 out of last seasons bargain bin

But I can say that they were pretty comfy. They would definitely offer decent wrist support in the event of a "lie-down". But yeah, as also mentioned above, the restricted movement could irritate one somewhat

So then maybe the stabiliser isnt a bad option then.

I guess it'll come down to intended use and personal preference.

If it's to protect your wrist in the event of a bail, I'd go with the gloves. If it's to offer a little extra support during the ride, then the gloves and the stabiliser will work, but the stabiliser will be less bulky

I ride with 661 wrist wraps (learnt the hard way by breaking a wrist and not working for 2 months). They fit over my gloves and allow enough movement but still offer decent protection.
