I'll look out for you and your buddy as well!! let's work together to make it happen!!

We'll get to the front immediately, I'm on a black and white Giant, my buddy is on a titanium Lynskey. See you there!

My advice is to get all the tandems onto the front at the start and stick behind them until Edinburgh Dv kicks up, then "assist" them up to the start of the Blue Route, then stick behind them. Keep this up, until the finish in Greenpoint, "assisting" where possible in lieu of wheel-sucking, and you could get your PB. Then finish it off by buying the tandem riders a few nice cold one's and some boerie rolls  because by that time they will need to be rewarded

Ok, I'll be wearing blue Metroplitan kit, Red helmet, silly grin on my face (just look at my Avatar pic :D ) Riding white Solis plastic bike. Will try and be in the front of the start chute.

So, did anyone of you guys manage to get a sub 3? I ended up a few minutes slower than last year. Started cramping in Campsbay a lost a huge group there. Lots of H, G, F and even some D and E riders in the bunch.

I think the H group rode very well, maybe not Sub 3, but it was the best bunch I've been part of. Made an error in the last 100m up Smitswinkel, managed to chase the leaders down and made the same mistake going through Misty Cliffs, just couldn't latch on again.

Will have to see when the results come out, managed a 3:14' everuthing taken into account, I'm happy.

Lessons learnt, but cannot say that I would have been able to go faster.

Official time, 3:23:56. Only about 2 min slower than last year (out of E). Not too unhappy with that. Had a problem with my chain overchanging and landing up between the cassette and wheel at the foot of Suikerbossie. Had to stop and remove it by hand, and in the process loosing the bunch. (will teach me not to cross shift ) Had to work very hard up Suikerbossie and from Llandudno to Campsbay to catch back up (ably assisted by a tandem) only to cramp up on that little climb out of Campsbay and loosing the bunch again, for good this time. At this stage it was a huge bunch, with D, E, F, G and H riders in it. Overall, not a bad day in the saddle.

Hey Wannabe and skidd.....Our group started out way too slow on the Blue Route (to get close to a sub-3), but what the heck do I know...it was my 1st Argus!! and it was bloody GREAT!! what an awesome ride and race!!

My time was 3h11m39s officially!.....so glad I did not get close to the 3 hours, because I made a BIG mistake by only starting my Garmin, once we crossed the first mat.....stupid of me!!

I lost the top guys in our group, when we caught the big group G bunch going up Smitswinkel....I battled to get past them and then chased like a mad man once over the top, but to no avail.....

Gerhardc, I agree with you. By the time we got to Jubilee Square in Simonstown, we were already 8 minutes behind the split for an Sub 3. I was however surprised that at that stage we were already properly into the backmarkers of the G group. We already caught a big group of them going up Boyes Drive.

After seeing that we were so far behind the split, I decided to rather be cautious and ride safely, as there were some real cowboys in the group. My front wheel almost got taken out a few times by guys coming from behind and then just switching me.

Had a C group rider that we caught on that little climb out of Simonstown. He then decided that it was time to "pull" our group (I was infront at that stage), but only lasted about a 100 meters before he started to swerve from side to side (as the Pro's do when they want to shake someone off). Like sheep the rest of the guys in the group started following him all over the road. Was hillarious to watch, as I fell back immediately when he started with his stunts. :D
