MTB for wife

My wife and I had an agreement last year, while she was pregnant , that I can go mad and do whatever races (MTB,Road,Tri,Running) I wanted, unless I buy her an MTB after the Argus this year.

 

So it is almost that time and I have no idea where to start and what women specific bikes are out there and what specs to look for (dual/hardtail,26/29er) etc etc. My budget +- R12000.

 

She has been a roadie for a number of years, so we have the necessary equipment.

That is a nice budget to start with. My sister has a Merida Juliet 1000 ( its a WSD) and my wife has a Cannondale Trail SL3 WSD. They are both very happy with them. The Merida has very good spec, but if your wife is really tiny (like mine) I think the Cannondale would suite her a bit better.
