I was thinking of doing Korea, but now with China jumping on the ironhorse- Korea was canceled. We had an unofficial Ironman here in Taiwan in 2006 and might have one again later this year. I've done France. Now I'm looking at Japan or western Australia. Maybe Europe again??? Don't really know yet. We have a half IM here in Taiwan on April 12 now and then our own racing season start.

I'm also thinking of maybe going for the Hawaii Half or Monaco or one of those- It is a lot easier and you can always do some traveling when you're done. It doesn't take all day! Training is also a lot easier for the half!

Better value for money? Lets see <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Entry fee:

Comrades R170

IM R2200 (including SS card thing)

Equipment:

Comrades R2000

IM R15000+  (That is only if you don?t buy a proper Tri bike)

Travel cost:

About the same.

Doing the event' date=' priceless?LOL

I was not interested in the Pasta evening and award ceremony due to having a wife and small children that needed to be kept happy.

I definitely work on the swim for next year. I will also check the entry fee next year.  If is too high, which seams to be the most likely the case, I rather add some money and do an Int Ironman like the Swiss, <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />FranceoN> or GermanyoN>. One that preferably has the swim section that is NOT in the sea. Big%20smile

OW - the entry fee for all IM's is the same $ value - it is our exchange rate the screws things up a bit (and the fact that the Specsavers sponsorship per individual is getting less)

That Specsavers sponsorship is a bit of a con really. I understansd that they need to get something back for their inputbut to be honest nobody in my family wears glasses so a loyalty card that I have to spend money on is a waste for me. 2nd IM whereI amgoing private and I can wear what the hell I want. At least my wife will be able to spot me easier.

How poor is that IMSA website.?? If you compare it to overseas IM websites it is rubbish.

Ok see your point GrantC, clearly my head was up my ar*e when I read the whole sponsorship deal.

I registered after the sponsorship deal closed anyway. Arranging my own private sponsors.

Have done the last 3 IMSA and not doing this year. I have also done Nice which was Nice.....

Will try do a race in USA this year or maybe go to IMWA.

If you get a chance to do a race outside of SA you will see much better value. I very impressed with goody bag from Nice and it is the same company Triangle that puts on that race.
