HI there,

My friend and I are competing in the relay version of the Old Mutual JOberg2C. We are doing leg 1 - the first 3 days of the ride.

Has anyone done this leg that can let us know what the terrain is like?

Then, RE training, we have been training long rides on the road (essentially our Argus training of 2 or 3 spin classes in the week and a long ride of 60 - 80ks on weekends) with some running/swimming cross training on alternated days.

Does anyone have any stage-race advice ITO emergency training for these 3 days and then tips on the actual race.

Thanks!

emergency training = hills and intervals

Step 1: Find a big hill (at least 2km long)

Step 2: Twice a week, ride the big hill 5 times in a row as fast as possible; Rest on the way down

Step 3: Remember the gear you used

Step 4: Repeat the next week, using a harder gear each week

Then you still do you normal week and weekend training to get used to the distance and saddle time

I'm not a coach, a nutritionist or a professional trainer of any sort, but if you do this I can guarantee results!

first three days are flat but dont let that fool you, little uphills and NO downhills so you peddle all the way. terrain also at parts difficcult ito mud or grass altho i think they sorted some of that from the first year. biggest thing is to be able to spend long hours in the saddle legs turning all the time....go have fun
