My front chainring shifter seems to have stripped it's moer - local bikey says they sell both front and rear as a set, and it doesn;t seem cheap.

Is this kosher?

Bike is a Schwinn Mesa, with SRAM SX4

Any help appreciated!!

Not sure exactly what you are looking for?

The front derailure or the shifter?

Yes both front and rear derailures are sold separately, so is the left or right hand shifter.

Is this kosher?

As long as you don't spill beer or drop a pork tjop while changing it ... I guess it is!

Ok - I need to replace the LH shifter SRAM SX-4 (changes front chainring gears).

So next question.......where can I get this?

Also read advice elsewhere to upgrade to X-5 ? Opinions?

Dereilleurs are fine (i hope).

Will avoid pigs, pork, rashers, breweries, distilleries and even wine. Meths however is a different story............great for cleaning. Does that count?
