So, I wanna address a Q to some MTB suspension fundies. I went through to Lourensford and visited the Spez support tent and had a look at the bikes used by team number 1. I noticed that there was a small cannister attached to the rear chain stay which is connected to the rear shock.

What is the purpose thereof?

Sorry if it is a dumb Q.

It is called the Brain shock and that canister is the brain. The Brain makes the shock harder and softer without any human intervention. It is for mtbikers who are so quick that they do not have time to think, or mtbikers who are slower but do not possess a human brain. Also, a simple service can only be done by a brain surgeon.

It's called the brain, it's inertia valve system that takes away that bobbing feeling. So the idea is to make it as responsive as a hardtail with the added efficiency and comfort of a dual suspended bicycle. But don't mistake it for a lockout system! The shock stays 100% active all the time and can't be locked out - because of the brain it doesn't need one :)

Fixed. It's a stupid piece of kit. Gives the marketers something to do.

Would you go as far as to say we can put it in the 29er column?

I think so... the one which also lists:

Wearing Lycra Pants on a MTB?

Bar-ends?

Bottle cage on back of seatpost?

etc.

etc.

Just go buy yourself a 29er and get it over with.

LOL - chill, I have one... it's FAST.... and it's "dialed"... and it climbs like a "goat" and I shred it down the hills like it's on rails my BROTHER!!!...

I'm so gay ( "carefree", "happy", or "bright and showy") when I ride it.
