Depends on what type of riding you're doing.

Coming into winter and out of muddy season a nice fast rolling hardpack tyre could be a good choice.

The Geax AKA TNTs have amazing grip on hard pack, and not too shabby in the mud. As mentioned above, they roll like an R off an afrikaners tongue. They also have very sturdy side walls, and are fairly light.

The catch... around R720 each (although CWC might have them for a lot less), and they wear pretty quick, so not a good rear tyre choice.

Geax Saguaros also have a pretty fast rolling pattern. They're a buit more muti condition than the AKA. Same sidewall strength across the TNT range. They last pretty long (I know a top national XC rider who says they last him a whole season).

The catch... Same pricing as the AKAs, and weigh a bit more

Been using the Saguaro on the back of the Shova with either a 2.35" Nev on the front or another Saguaro. With the Nev on the front it still rolls well and I like the sure footed feeling from the nice and large UST Nev.

The SS has just been fitted with a 2.2" Saguaro and replaces the 2.25" Ardent that was on there ... the Saguaro again rolls way faster and gives a fair dose of grip.

I use the TNT Saguaros and they have lasted well with good durability with respect to punctures or side wall cuts. In fact I have never had a puncture with them yet.

The Saguaro carcass also gives lovely feeling on the trail. I am a fan.

Quick one for all the guys rolling geax tnt's....is there another way to fit and remove them from rims other than angle grinder?

HTFU ... I just fitted a 29'er one with a single tyre lever

Clearly, on a Stan's Crest rim it took 2 guys 5 hours...no jokes, we downed a bottle of Ricky Louw afterwards. They are on my training wheelset now and yes totally bombproof but i am fooked if I have to fit a boot.

haha! I struggled for a good while when putting mine on the first time. The trick I found was to pinch the bead so it sits in the centre "V" of the rim. If you do this all the way around it should give you enough slack to get the trye on/off without drinking cement.

On the plus side... with tyres that sit that well... you feel a lot more confident about them not burping when you land hard.

Also do this and usually can get it on without levers. It is almost impossible with tubeless tyres if you don't.
