Cost of events - Epic is cheap!

That does seem like quite a lot to me. Just a thought. Why not try hiring a camper with 3 mates and follow the tour that way? food is actually quite cheap there (if you cook it yourself) and being in a camper you'd stay in caravan parks.

Just try and get near the good spots on the climbs.Much prefer a little hotel in the town,ride to the climb,enjoy the race,ride back and park off at a table with vino bread and cheese before wobbling off on my bike back to le hotel.Bugger the camper and the mates.Rather meet a chic over there.

With Epic you also have to pay your own flights.

This Everest Mountain bike tour seems to be better value for money at the end of the day.

 

I did not pay for flights or extra accommodation on Epic, but have for other events (J2C as example)....but what I am trying to convey everyone is ripping off the cost of events and yes some are expensive and many are a rip-off. Thing is people have a choice on how they want to or do not want to spend their money.

 

This is also organised by Alex Harris (winner of the Freedom Challenge and experienced mountain climber), so you will pay a good deal for that privilege (your choice if you want to).

 

Or as many have alluded to, go and organise your own excursion, but pay the price for the hassles that go along with it.

Hardly apples and apples though. I imagine organizing a ride at everest is significantly more in every way than it is to organize a huge race in CT? I immediately think of insurance issues, etc etc etc. Plus housing would be way more involved than a red Absa tent?
