Powertap wheel vs Campy EURUS wheels

hey hubbers,

 

 

recently bought a powertap built into a MAVIC wheel, i am new to training with power etc etc

my main question is... what happens to my Campy Eurus wheels which i love ?? do i use them for races ? do i race without powertap ? opinions please

Get a cranked based power meter.

Sell the powertap. Keep the Eurus wheels

Race with the Powertap. The data you gain for post-race analysis far outweighs the benefit of saving a few grams with the Euruses.

Depending on which model power tap you have, you're looking at a weight difference of probably at most about 300 grams to the Eurus Wheels and most of this weight is at the centre of the wheel where the impact isnt that significant so race the power tap, if your race wheels were a set of Lightweights or Bora Ultra II's then its a different story as the weight saving is significant.

 

Wheel based power metre's have their pro's and con's as do crank based systems, dont let anyone tell you one is better than the next, you need to weigh up your options and work out which suites your needs better.

thanks Jatho, at the moment its more of an aesthetic preference as i really do like the look and design of the Eurus wheels.... but i agree with you

ok well seems i will be selling off my Campy Eurus wheels, what wheels would you suggest i look at then ? seems my Powertap SL+ is a 28 spoke......
