I tried to order variouis items for my smartphone (covers /screen protectors etc.) They are a fraction of the price in our local cell shops (i.e <R50 compared to >R200!!)

 

BUT no delivery to SA!! How do i get around that??

 

PS: i have sucessfully ordered a Kindle and am a happy reader!!

You can't really get round it if you don't have an overseas address to send them too. You can order most of that stuff off eBay, though.

No I did not. But I did get an email to say that shipment took place yesterday and was given a tracking number.

 

I was not expecting such a fast delivery anyway as the estimated shipping date given when I placed my order was 9 -15 May 2012.

You can if you use their courier service option, they just stopped shipping via the Post office.

how /where do iget to the courier option? (can't beleive i "Missed" that option/)

 

I will get a frien of mine to combine his order with mine - that way we still save a bit when using courier option...

also should have added - seems they "redirect" yuo to other service providers from their website...and thsoe shops do not want to ship to SA?? Am I correct in my deductions?

Now you wanna catch me out hey - its still there I hope, I ordered some books a while back (December or so) and I had to use the courier option as they would not send via the postal system.

Is this Amazon.com or .co.uk? The UK site had (has?) free shipping to SA on orders over 25GBP. The .com site did remove its PO shipment options in the past.

No the .dot com site. Yeah, they wouldn't send via the post, but they had a courier option which you could use, it cost a bit more though.

A bit OT but how does a Kindle compare to an IPAD for reading books? Want to get my missus one for mothersday but am thinking I might just splurge for an IPAD.

The screen is the most amazing thing I have ever come across. You can't compare the ipad and kindle but if you are getting an ipad to read books then rather get a kindle. There is no glare and it is just like a real book and no strain on your eyes.
