Howsit all, I noticed an anomaly between 2 GPS devices after the Lionman. One unit read 45km and the other only tracked 42km. I overlayed the 2 tracks today to see why and besides the usual signal discrepencies I noticed a gradual increase in the difference between mile markers on each unit until eventually we were up to 3 km's apart at the same place on the track.

Both devices were cellphone based GPS trackers so i'm not advocating that they should be perfect tracking tools or that all GPS devices are wrong i'm just curious to see the difference between devices in general - which leads me to my question...

Can anybody send me a screenshot of the track they logged at the Lionman this past Saturday, i'd like to compare them as well out of curiosity?

Thanks - Track overlay below for interest sake.

One of the routes seems to be using "smoothing" as there are quite a few discrepencies in the route.

The most obvious is the top left portion at the 31/29 markers, and the other between 14/15/15.

Don't know it it will give a 3km error, but anything is possible.

To get a true reflection, you need a track from a Garmin Edge 500 or similar.

If possible, obtain the .gpx or .gbd files and import them to Mapsource / Basecamp, and see what the routes look like then.
