Having just been through the BB30 learning curve I thought I'd share - yeah there are already BB30 threads but I'm too cool to post on other people's threads...

BB30 version 1: Inside the BB there is a shoulder or groove to slip a circlip into and the bearings locate on the shoulder/circlip. To convert to "normal" use the existing bearings and add one of these:

I have installed one on a Blue Triad SP Carbon TT frame and it works a treat.

BB30 version 2: there is no shoulder or circlip inside the BB...add one of these:

Once it's in you screw in your normal 24mm BB and cranks.

It is permanent when installed in carbon and removable when installed in alu. It works on 68 or 73mm shell widths.

And now the commercial portion...

I have a 172.5mm FSA Gossamer BB30 compact crank 50/34 to swap for a normal 24mm shimano type crank of similar quality if anyone is upgrading to a BB30 frame.

I also have one of the Truvativ converters should anyone want one (buycycle price less 10% cos I like you).

I just removed one of these from a carbon frame on Saturday. It just pushed out with a very gentle tap from a rubber mallett, no harm done at all.

Good to hear!

Did you use the locktite stuff that came with it or grease?

my new Commencal frame is BB30.. i fitted one of the sram adaptors, works perfectly. Running my GXP crank.

I have no real experience with BB30, but im just not convinced its the way to go. Prefer pressfit or threaded type still..
