Anybody know if the guy is ok and what exactly happened?

rode past and saw him on the roof of a car with some people helping him, was absolutely stunned and shocked.

On a roof of a car?? Sheesh!!

Ja, from what I could gather the driver was going into one of those view points, and didn't look or something, and hit the cyclist coming down, the car was on the wrong side of the road with his bike on the windscreen and him on the roof.

When I rode past he was conscious, I think, but it didn't look very good.

I must have just missed it by minutes. I saw you coming down Zac....I was thru the canopy section already.

Could have been worse.....

It seems to have been Gert Wilkins farther of Travys Wilkins - this is what is on his facebook page!

This is what happens when motorist are negligent and forget that they are not the only ones using the roads. Today my father got taken out on chappies - thankfully he is fine and has just been discharged from hospital, but this is a lucky case and unfortunately there have been others that have not been as lucky! I Pray for softness and patience in motorists attitudes towards cyclists and vice versa! Be safe out there — with Gert Wilkins.
