Hi Y'all

I know this is a topic that has been discussed before but I can't find the thread, so maybe someone can help me again?

I have a Polar Cadence sensor but can't seem to get it to pick up on my watch on a carbon bike. I remember reading about this somewhere on the hub before but like I said couldn't find it. What do you do to get it to work?

I tried it on a few places (as much as I can) but can't go to far out of range of the watch anyway??

Any help/advice?

Thanks

It should still work even on carbon frame. Perhaps Carbon framed bikes require the sensor signal to be stronger than those of metal bikes??

Try make sure that the magnet and sensor are mounted as close as possible to the handlebar or wherever your watch is mounted. If you wear the watch on your wrist it may be to far away. Also make sure the watch and sensor are on the same side of the bike to each other. If the thing still does not work (and you are happy the battery is good, you did think of this first??) then see below

The following refers only to the Polar S series (S720, 710, 520 etc...)

Not sure if the the latest CS models can be adjusted.

You can adjust the cadence sensor signal strength (and the speed sensors as a matter of interest).

< Open the cadence sensor by loosing the 2 small screws.

< Carefully seperate the 2 halves

< Inside there is a small printed circuit board, this has a wire connector which can be moved between 2 or 3 pins. The different pin locations provide different signal strengths, if I remember correctly short, meduim and long range. By default (to maximise battery life i suspect) the wire is attached to the shorter range pin).

< Move the wire to the other pin.

< Reassemble the sensor, taking care not to loose or damage the seal or anything else that popped up during disassembly...

< Be carefull when fitting the screws, make sure the dont cross thread and dont tighten them to tight.

< Attach sensor to bike and try again...

This procedure is explained somewhere in the S series user manual i believe...

Off course all this will void your warranty with Polar so the safest bet is to take it into Polar and ask them to adjust the signal strength.

Good luck

In the kit they also gave you a sheet of rubber with a sticky adhesive on one side. Use this as well between the frame and the sensor.
