Hi all, thinking of upgrading but finding myself asking "is this really an upgrade.

I currently ride a Merida Matt's TFS 300:

SHIFTERS Shimano SL-M430-3 / SL-M430-9

BRAKES Shimano M445 180/160

BB-SET Shimano Cartridge

RIMS Matts Pro D

Vs Merida Matt's TFS 800 (wanting to buy this one)

R 5,000.00

merida matts 800 medium frame

shimano xt 9speed and front and rear derailuers.

race face deus crankset

deore 9 speed shifters

dt swiss 240s wheelset(tubeless)

deore hydraulic brakeset

rockshox recon air fork

Would appreciate the opinions of you guys that know more than me.

well in terms of the fork alone you are upgrading quite a lot. Also an XT front derailleur is better than an alivio. Shifters as well will be better.

agree on upgrade! Fork is much much better! Nice wheelset and they tubeless! Cost me about 2k to upgrade my wheelset alone... What brakes you running at the moment?

I'd say get the bike. Overall its better. What is the weight difference?

Already bought, I am not sure on the actual weight difference. I sent my brother to go look at it and get it as it is in Durban and so was he. Without even asking the weight question my brother had said its a noticeable difference!
