Event Recommendations wanted.

I'm a 50+ Aussie woman who would like to visit South Africa in 2013 and do an event or two.

Ive been riding for yonks both road and mtb. Have done many 100km mtb races and many solo 24 hr events. Not fast or super gd technically but can go all day. Multi-day events are fine.

When is the best time weather wise to visit with riding in mind?

What are your iconic events?

What events would you recommend I consider???

Hi Yak, September to February is good time to visit, the Momentum 94.7(Johannesburg) in good in November and the Pick n pay Argus early in the next year (Cape town), hope you enjoy your stay.

Some of our most popular multi-day stage races include Epic, Sani2c, Burg and Bush and Joburg2c to name but a few. Getting an entry for some of these events is another story!

 

when it comes to 1 day races, I enjoy races like Hill2Hill that leaves you with a sense of achievement

From about Sept to December in Gauteng there are quite a number of endurance MTB events

 

Varsity College 3/6/12 hours

Ride Crater Cruise 100km and 50km split between Sat and Sun

LMCS 6 hour

Delta Dash 6 hour

Vlei 24 hour

Bicycling 24 hour

 

Most of our MTB stage races require 2 persons although some accommodate single riders as well.
