Training is in full swing for cyclists in KwaZulu-Natal and around the country who are preparing for the second event in the Tour de Richelieu, the Amashova Durban Classic, which takes place on 14th October 2012.

Online pre entries for KwaZulu-Natal’s popular annual cycling challenge close on Monday morning at 08:00 and cyclists who wish to be seeded should enter before this deadline to avoid disappointment. Click here to enter now.

The 26th running of the Amashova from Pietermaritzburg to Durban will once again provide the avid cyclist with full road closure along the entire race route. The 106km race route departs from the centre of Pietermaritzburg in Chief Albert Luthuli Street (Commercial Rd) outside the Pietermaritzburg City Hall, whilst the 40km race starts from outside Lillies Quarter in Builders Way, Hillcrest.

Both routes take cyclists along a scenic journey towards Durban’s magnificent coastline where they will cross the finish line at the majestic Moses Mabhida Stadium, which was built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

At the finish, deserving cyclists and their supporting family and friends will be able to enjoy the hospitality that the Café de Richelieu has to offer, whether it is sharing stories of their race experiences or simply to grab some light refreshment. Café de Richelieu provides a French café atmosphere and the perfect opportunity to top up the energy tank. Patrons can enjoy freshly brewed coffee, croissants, baguettes and cold beverages, whilst a bar facility will be in place later in the day.

Late entries for the Amashova Durban Classic will be taken at registration, from 11th to 13th October at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, and will be charged the nominal late entry fee. Those cyclists that enter late will not be seeded.

The Tour de Richelieu looks forward to seeing you in Durban.
