8ta Internet on the MTN backbone - How does it work?

How does the 8ta internet work on the normal 8ta sims , the sims that are largely running off the Mtn backbone - ie not the ones provisioned for 8ta's very limited 3G network?

 

If I have heard correctly they only run at edge speed or will they sometimes ramp up to 3G?

 

Because I'm going to be staying in the bundus for a good while and there's awesome MTN edge where I'll be so I'm hoping I can have at least edge on my 8ta sim!

Should show coverage on a map on the 8ta website.

 

But if MTN have coverage, 8ta should.
