Slow and unfit - Northern Farms Training Ride

DR ◣◢

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am putting together a group for Saturday morning at Northern Farms

Ride starts at 7:00 for 7:15.

Distance will be anything from 30 to 50 depending.

Please note that this distance will include stops and the pace will be around the 10km/h mark.

We should be done by around 13:00

It's not going to be that hot on Saturday but bring enough liquids and some snacks to keep the old system fueled.

32GI Endurance or any other low GI energy drink is recommended. I wouldn't use gels.

List of riders.

1. SIR Maxxis

2. Skandalis

3. Green Bean

4. Wayne68

5. TiBones

6. Madscot

7.

8.

There is a ride every sateruday at Northern Farm that leaves at 07:30 for beginners and at an easy pace. They meet at the coffee shop gate - ussually run by Club 100 but it is open to ALL.

Thanks Ian but this is a long standing group ride with specific goals in mind.

Some of us are unfit but have been riding for many years. Very few beginners in the group.

Sir M, what exactly did we sign up for here?

Do I need to update my last will & testament?

I had you down for the Breedts Nek ride on Saturday.....

Cool, going like a Boeing...

I take it this means I should scratch your name from the list?

Ok, so as a novice I best try and join the Club100 group ride.

Anyone else in this category that i can meet up with?

You can join our ride. Its not going to be that rough. How long have you been riding and what distances are you comfortable with?

Nobody gets left behind and the slowest rider determines the rest intervals and pace.

Sorry for only responding now, Nancy...

After seeing my performance on Sunday I would rather not take chances with Breedt's just yet. I'll be more of a hindrance than anything else...

Thanks Green Bean. I haven't been for a biking weekend away since I broke my wrist 5 over months ago...

Mr. Linkage took my bike as we have so much stuff to get down and help set up tomorrow.

Directions: Take Cedar Road (R562) past Broadacres Shopping Centre and Chartwell to the T-junction at the end of Cedar Road. Turn right onto the R114 to Diepsloot, cross the Jukskei River at Heron Bridge and drive for +- 2.7km. Turn left at the two big white walls with a small sign that says “Northern Farm”.

GPS Coordinates: S25.96504 E28.01960

Google is amazing...
