Hi Hubbers

I'm in trouble.Last night while cleaning my bike for the Crater Cruise I noticed my chain struggles to go from the small blade to the big blade.Took it for a test ride after oiling the chain and after a couple of efforts trying to get the chain onto the big ring something happened. Now when I push the shifter the front derailer just moves up and down and does not want to "click" into place if that makes sense.

Is there something I must look for thats easy to fix or just take it to my lbs to sort it out?The bike must be ready at 13:00 today as we are leaving for Parys.

Thanks

sounds like you need a new cable.....unless you have damaged the mechanism inside.......

Thats what I'm afraid of.But I never forced it while testing it last night.

I had a similar problem with my XO shifter after a lie down at Groenkloof. My mate opened up the shifter and re aligned the spring and closed the external round nut firmly and it has been fine ever since. The cable might have unhooked inside. Hopefully you don't have to ride CC on a SS...

Thanks, hope it's something small. If I must then then it will be a 1 by 10 CC!Average cadence will be 110+

Problem fixed, the shifting lever can be be adjusted either forwards or backwards.Mine somehow slipped and went all the way to the front therefor I could not push the shifter far enough forward to "click" the derailer into place.Luckily nothing costly
