Not if you plan to ride steep climbs. A big front wheel and smaller rear makes the bike lean back on climps. If the going gets steep and slow, the front will be low on traction and also lift easily. Rather try fit two 27.5" wheels.

Not entirely true, the same would apply if you put a longer fork on a bike.

 

if you say have a 100mm travel 26" fork, then you could put an 80mm travel 29" fork and have similar geometries as the original setup.

 

I say try it, had a lot of fun running mine with a rigid fork and 29" front wheel.

 

PS: @scanman 01 : if you need a 29er front wheel, I have one spare at the moment.

Thax Flowta,I will get back to you about that 29er front wheel.Still try to found out if just the front wheel is a 29er will you have a rather identical ride then a full 29er or is it a waist of monny.
