Knowledge on road stuff?

Got an old school roadie, with the down tube shifters, wanted to know if it is possible to convert them to lever shifters? I'm not worried about the cable routing ( I can improvise), checking more to find out if you can adjust/modify the shifters to 7 rear and 2 up front?

I did this with my old 'dale. (Actually the LBS did it for me, but it was a simple conversion)

ok sweet, so it is possible to work the rear shifter then?

It's much more retro to leave the old school down tube shifters on. Make for a great Critical Mass bike.

Not the best in traffic, when I'm commuting, actually quite scary fidling with gears while dodging the odd idiot who can't drive straight...

Before STI's were invented we used to ride like that. You get used to it. Its like the difference between a manual gearbox on a car and one with paddle shifting.

have you been living under a rock for a while? convert to single speed - no need for shifters.
