26x2.1 vs 26x2.2

Hi Guys,

I just replaced my front tyre (Racing Ralph 2.1) with a Conti 2.2.

Question 1 - what is the difference between the 2.1 and 2.2?

Question 2 - the idea was to run the Racing Ralph I took off the front in the back. Will it be a problem that the rear will now be a 2.1 and the front a 2.2?

Can I run this combo for a while or should I immediately replace the rear with a 2.2 as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Martin

No need to replace the rear, your tyre widths don't have to match, theoretically the tyre you've fitted is 0.1 of an inch wider than the old tyre.

I ride a 2.5 on the front and a 2.1 on the back. The wider front tyre gives lots of grip while the fast rolling tyre at the back makes up for the weight of the front rubber!

Thanks guys!!! Very Impressed with my first tubeless change, popped it with my floor pump!

It's nice when you can do that.

The ease with which you can do it is very much dependent on the tyre and rim combination.... in short, the tighter the fit the easier it seals and inflates, but then its harder to get the tyre on/off when you have to.

2.2 and 2.1.... very little difference, as mentioned above. It's nice on a front wheel for the extra grip though.

Too true Bianchi, getting the Ralph back on required the neighbors compressor, not nearly as easy as the Conti. Also the Conti has kept it's pressure, I've had to inflate the Ralph twice now. Will add a little more sealant today and take it for a ride.
