It will be very wet in places but if you know your way around then there are ways to avoid the worst areas.  Try avoid the forested section near the 4x4 pit. There is also a deep puddle along the fence bordering the highway and Monument Park golf course.

hey' date=' mandibles, those boys of mine are like magnets to puddles!

[/quote']

So am I!

I have very intimate knowledge of the one next to the highway. Didn't realise that I was riding on a ridge in it and I slid off and landed sideways, in the 30cm deep mud puddle, still clipped into my pedals. Had mud right up into my hair and my Camelbak etc is now permanently stained. LOLEmbarrassed

hey mandibles!

took the boys to groenies yesterday! have never seen it so lush! the singletrack was heaven. my youngest, breandan, had a bit of a rough time of it - starting off by bailing in the parking lot. some very helpful guy ran over and did, like, a complete medical checkup on him - turning him over slowly and feeling his collarbone and shoulder to check for breaks! my boy played it for all it was worth! he bailed a few more times, but was very chuffed with himself for cleaning the technical section along the fence on the way back to the gate!

you were right about the puddles along the other fence! and you shoulda seen how full of water the 4X4 pit was! conor dared me to drop into it, which i did and ended up stuck in the middle with muddy water covering my wheels.

but all in all, was good dirty fun!!!!!

Glad you guys had lots of fun. I have to admit that I love Groenies best when it's very muddy. I know it is bad for my bike but it brings out the kid in me so it is worth the sacrifice.

We must organise a kiddies and parents ride there sometime. I have a 9 year old buddy who I occasionally ride with. He is generally faster than me and has far better technical skills too but he always slows down to my pace or waits for me LOL

sounds like a great plan! my kids have vastly different abilities, so i let the eldest, conor, who's also 9, ride off while i cruise with my youngest (7) at the back. i often double back so i can do the singletrack at my own pace. the kids really love it there, especially the animals!

i always stop at the engen on the r21 on the way there. they have a woolies shop 'n go thingie, so we always stock up for a picnic in the parking lot, then pop into the keg or cool runnings on the way home for a milkshake (beer for dad) to conduct a "postmortem" on the day's riding!
