Maybe it's just me .... I won't go out before about 9 on a Sunday. There are just waaaaaaay too many drunkards coming back from their night out (and it may be my perception, but many seem to live on that side of the mountain). I'd rather wait til they're either asleep or kotching.

I sure hope the cyclist gets better soon. And that he gets to ride again.

I got there just after it happened. Seems like an Old guy in his bakkie hit the cyclist (don't know who's fault it was though).

The guys Femur was broken by the looks of things....big bend (lump) by his right quad....quite gross actually.

Needless to say i didn't enjoy the rest of my ride !

Thanks for this info crankmaster! It is not a lekka thing to witness first hand!

There are lots of teams training and riding indiscriminately. This morning I saw a group easily more than 10 all in team kit riding 3 abreast going down lower main road towards town in the low lying mist taking up half the one lane. With the taxis barreling down there in morning thats just looking for trouble. Cmon guys lets be more responsible.

Very good point... also saw the other day about 4 guys next to each other on MTB riding in Paarl main road, hardly room for cars ! We should do our part.

Agreed, out of all the places I've ridden CT has to have some (not all obviously) of the worst bunch riders, hugely arrogant. I've always held to the simple rules: never more than two a breast, form single file when cars are coming from behind (back marker calls it), signal to cars when safe / not safe to pass if you can see ahead (that really helps out), don't run reds in a bunch, don't snake all over the joint as you answer phones / try to get your bottle out etc and give a wave... It's not hard and means that alot of drivers will be respectful back.

If you and you mates want a yarn 4 up across the road then stow it for conversation over lattes afterwards. I've always thought if you've got time and breath for a fat chat like that then you're not riding hard enough ;)
