Formula R1 Brake Lever Rattle

Has anyone had any success in stopping the excessive rattle on your R1 brake levers? Apart from keeping a finger on them all the time, please advise how you did it. I've mailed Formula directly but they dont seem to understand what I'm asking them.

Do you have the 1st model R1 with the magnesium levers?

I have this issue with mine, the bolts that hold the lever start to loosen, so watch out that they don't fall out.

 

I have not tried it but I think Loctite on the bolts may help, as you cannot tighten them all the way or the lever does not return after pulling it.

 

From my understanding it also has something to do with the insert through which the screws go, but no one or shop has been able to sort it out or explain the exact issue. Seems that with the mag levers that was an issue but the new models with carbon or alu levers are fine.

 

I want to get some of the alu levers from crc with new screws and inserts and see if that help.

 

LOVE the R1's but this issue is annoying.

Most likely the lever bushes. Your LBS should be able to get and fit spares. In my experience they will never be perfect though - just rebuilt my Avids and there's still a bit of play - way less than before though.
