New Enduro Trail set to open at Giba Gorge just after Xmas

We (mainly 2 of the other DH guys - Dave Drummond and Craig Richards - BIG Up guys clap.gif clap.gif thumbup1.gif ) are busy with a new gravity fed trail that should be clear to ride sometime close to XMAS.

It is a progression trail aimed at the Enduro-style scene up to DH level.

The track starts at the Pylon above Giba where the DH track starts but comes down the other side of the hill, crossing Zorgs road and ending on the OLD blue route that used to go up through the quarry where the orphanage is now.

The top of the track is nearly done (mostly rideable - some corners still need berms - and the grass needs to be removed in a couple of spots) ... so if you like the downhills and are feeling adventurous come and give it a try.

DISCLAIMER - please note - the trail is still new and we still busy with it ... so its not perfect yet!

Also there are a couple of REALLY Steep sections ... so Look before you ride!!!

There is an "Enduro" line around the main rock garden near the top and I have ridden it on my 6inch trail bike with the seat up - so it is do-able ... but just check it out first.

Let us know what you think if you give it a ride

PS - the pic of the rock garden is on the DH section of the trail - the Enduro line goes around this!!! so dont worry! hahaha

Nice. Love the lovely red stuff you guys have to work with on that side of the country.

Red sections have been Built already

The blue is the bit that still needs to be cleared and built

and then the yellow is an alternate route that you can take in the meantime to get you down the hill - its actually a really cool path to ride! Just mind the odd rut that jumps out at you!

Never had the opportunity to ride giba, will be staying just up / down the road in Hillcrest, any advice to a novice giba gorge rider.

What's the protocol in joining up for rides or does one just go and ride so to speak?

Hey Rusty

You just pull in and ride ... pay your R40 at the gate park and off you go.

What type of riding do you do?? Giba has about 40km of singletrack trails that can be easily linked together (if you know where you are going)

There is a trail map that i suggest you download thats available on their site.

Otherwise PM with your email address and I'll send you a KMZ of the best loop to do that will incorporate 80% of the trails.

If you are more into DH/Freeride ... the park has 1 provincial level DH track (with the Enduro/DH track still being built) ... and then a full Freeride section.

The BMX track is also a machine to ride if you have a BMX.

Send me a PM and i can help you out.

Cheers

Nige
