Table Mountain Night Ride. Every Thursday at 6:30pm

7 of us took the gap in the weather and headed out at 6:30pm. We could have been 8, but a very dodgy excuse ("I forgot about some Thingy I've got on tonight....") from Devon meant he was out.

That's a round of drinks next week, so don't forget your credit card!

We got to the Blockhouse without any interference from the weather. But, jees!, as we got close to the end of Tafelberg Rd, thick drops of rain started to fall. A stiff breeze in our faces, we hammered up the hill to cover as much distance as possible, before the rain got worse.

Lucky for us the rain stopped.............and turned into frickin Hail! Within minutes we were soaked, my feet were swimming and my legs were frozen. I had just bought an Icebreaker base layer and cycling top that afternoon, so at least my chest was toasty.

Icebreaker is the bees knees! The merino wool does an amazing job and best of all, you can wear it for a week if you have to and it doesn't pong.

Temperature on Tafelberg Rd was down to 2,7 Degrees and by the time we arrived at our Local, we were icicles.

One for the annals of the Thursday Night Ride.

PS. African Nature will be launching a range of Merino wool garments. If they don't break the bank , do yourselves a favour and invest in a top or base layer.

Morning Rookie

come and join us anytime. The pace can be anything from slow to race, depends on the mood on the day. We do however always assign a sweeper to stay with the slowest rider, if there is a marked difference.

But generally we don't race. It's just that sometimes a rider is feeling good and wants to have a go at his Strava PB to the Blockhouse and then all hell breaks loose and pack mentality sets in.

We stop a couple of times along the way to regroup, so nobody is left behind and there is no pressure from anyone.

See you soon.

Ha Ha, My Bad, I deserve to be named and shamed! my excuse was a round about way of saying I wasn't to keen to rush from Constantia to get wet and cold! maybe it was the right choice by the sounds of it...
