How long is acceptable to wait for a refund after being told that one will be done??

 

online orders are all cash on order placement and shipping will only take place once money is in their account.

 

why does it take longer to get your money back??

I'd say 7 days......

I agree, 7 days is acceptable. Companies like to do all their refunds in go so they usually set a specific day.

I first notified GrouponSA of a cancellation of accommodation I bought through them in early March, got notified on April 2nd that a refund will be made - it is now 24 May and still no refund...

The problem with credit card payments is that in a card not present purchase (ie internet purchase), the cardholder has the right to repudiate the transaction. I think the time period is 30 days. If they refund you, you can still repudiate and get your money back for a second time. It is fraud but the vendor is at risk so they delay in order to reduce the risk.
