Agree with Mads - that little bit of saamgetimmerde singletrack is simply to avoid crossing the road. And that's abusy stretch of road, so well done for that solution actually.

Enjoyed it, but the sinkplaat was, whilst not the worst I've ridden recently, a bit of a pain. Glad I did not hit that after having done 80 extra k's. Was an education to feel by saddle not even remotely standing still, pedaling like crazy to keep up and struggling to control the read end (of the bike)... and ahead of me some dude on his dualie serenely cruising, his rear wheel plastered to the ground!

I did not find that corrugations that bad on my HT. Had my tires pumped at between 1.8 - 2.0 bar, and cruised mostly on the sandy sections next to the corrugations. Had very little "wheelwash" and did not struggle with riding in the sand. Was in any case much better than riding the corrugation.

Wannabee, why did you not do the 100?

I did it the first year they had it in the rain - but was part of a team - and I found I was a terrible team rider, I was way to slow for the guys I was riding with. In the end I had a mechanical that let me down at the last checkpoint.

I really want to go back and finish this ride.

Did the 50Miler and really enjoyed the challenge of racing flat out for the 80km. My first top 10 finish (7th)!! Must admit that even though it was lekker to ride hard and fast I would not want to do it every weekend.

I do Mountainbiking because I enjoy it, not to punish myself. :whistling: . In any case, I know my limitations, and 160km on a Mtb is way above my ability.

Just thought I did not recognize you in your MTB attire, but in that case I did not see you at all.

Did the 50 miler as my 2nd MTB race. Enjoyed it very much :)

Was bleak to start like 5 minutes behind the people at the start due to congestion at the starting point. Had to work very hard to catch up to the leading bunch.
