Event Name: Beaulieu Prep MTB Cycle Challenge 22nd June
When: 22 June 2013
Where: Beaulieu Prep, Kyalami, Gauteng
Category: MTB

This is the 4th year that this fund raiser event will be running and caters for the needs of the entire family and all schools willing to take up the challenge. Once again we will focus on creating an opportunity for all to take part in either the 45km, 25km, 14.5km, 4.5km or 2km events.

The 14.5km had been designed specifically for novice to intermediate riders and all competing school teams. Don't be fooled into thinking that it will be a walk over.

The 4.5km is a for all those young budding cyclists who just want to ride for the fun of it and the 2km is a parent assisted ride for the little ones.

The 25km will exist Beaulieu and traverse some of the spectacular single track river trails.

Lastly, the 45km caters for the more experienced fitter andadventurous rider which promises to be even better than last year, with loads of single track cutting across some of the most beautiful farms in the area.

The race will start at the Beaulieu Nature Reserve and will finish at Beaulieu Pre School in Beaulieu Estate, just North of Joburg. There will be plenty of entertainment for all cyclists and non cyclists with live music, food stalls and activities to keep the kids entertained during and after the events. We do encourage you to bring your whole family along and enjoy the day even if you will not be riding. All proceeds go towards the advancement of education at Beaulieu Prep school!

How are the entries looking? Don't see a lot of chatter, but keen to come and support.

Looks like plenty of interest in the race by the number of views on our website http://www.bps-mtb.co.za

Please come along and support the race. We've spent about three months preparing the trails in the area. I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.

Remember online entries close tomorrow 19th June. You can however still enter on Friday afternoon 21st June at Beaulieu Prep and before the race on Saturday morning. My advice would be to get those online entries in to avoid any pre-race chaos.

PS bring your families along. There will be plenty of entertainment at the finish during and after the race.

Was VERY well supported. Loved the ride as I train in this area weekly. The shindig at the school after was also very festive. Congrats on a gr8 event!

. What a great turn out! A huge thank you to all the cyclists who came out and supported us and to the residents of Beaulieu and the Kyalami land owners for allowing us access to their bridle trails and properties.

Thank goodness for the excellent weather we had considering it was just about the shortest day of the year. Sorry about the slightly extended distances. As far as I know there was only one real crash at the beginning resulting in suspected broken humerus, yet the guy still managed to finish top 30, wow! Saw some very interesting descending skills at the broken dam drop off. Made for great entertainment.

PS Remember that many of the trails and roads in the area are on private property and please be friendly to all people you are passing. If you are riding in the area please remember to slow right down when passing people on horse back and warn them if approaching from behind.
