Biokinetisist or sports doc will help you best. By bursitis came about due to a glute and some other muscle which was stiff, also pulling the ITB into the picture. There are many muscles in the area, so go and find out exactly which ones are causing the trouble and sort out the root cause.

Can anyone who has or had this give me some pointers for non medicinal treatment?

Rest... and regular iceing - once you are pain free at rest you can start doing the ITB stretch I posted in another thread today.

Interesting diagnosis.... is this fall related or overuse related? How was the diagnosis made - was any imaging done, or is this a self/symptom related diagnosis?

The doc reckons its either this or nurological. As the pain responds very well to nurofen i believe its not nurological but inflamation. Its from cycling...not trauma...but hey i fall a lot doing mtb

I had a bad case last year due to overuse. Confirmed via scans. I did require anti inflamatories and then after complete rest for 2 months it was lots of work with a biokineticist that got things right. This should include stretches, roller work and functional training.

HI THERE

Also had a hip problem for 1.5 years they thought it was bursitus but eventually after mri scan found out it was thorned labrum.

What helped for me was cortisone injection in the bursa - dont know how good this is but a sport dr in pretoria that is very good gave me this. took the pain for 3 months away.as well as strenghening of the glutes muscles as well as the lower core muscles.

also a anti inflamatory meds like arcoxia 120 mg for 1 week will help.

send me message if you want to some more info.
