If you drive through the town towards carnavon about 8 or 10kms there is a Road to the left (sign should say Klipwerf) Loooong gravel with the occasional donkey car or farm bakkie.

On the other side of town there is the "alternative" route to Klipwerf ( they use it when there is heavy rains and the river is flooded) not sure of the sign - it might be Loeriesfontein.

Mayb ask some locals to be sure. It's the road they take to see the flowers in the kloof. More hilly than the other route. There is also a 4x4 route on the first road - I don't know if you can ride there but I was planning on checking out later this month when I go thru to visit family.

Try the gravel road to Loeriesfontein. Go past Calvinia hospital and keep straight for 2 km on tar. From there it is about 65km gravel to Loeriesfontein.

I have to go to Calvinia for business, taking MTB with so that I can train.

Any suggestions for routes/dirt roads one can use to train on?

They do business there?

We visit family there annually (actually, Loeriesfontein), but haven't had the chance to take my MTB with yet

I will try this next time, for sure. Thanks

EDIT: I don't know that specific route but just keep in mind that there isn't cellphone reception everywhere, just inside the towns around there for the most part
