Hi there,

I've got a 26"er and I'm needing a new frame can I change it to a 29"er frame? But keep all the components the same and then at a later stage get 29" wheels and fork?

Would it work? Or am I just wasting time?

Thanks

Dude, it's pretty much the same question I asked yesterday but in reverse......having a 29r and changing the wheels to 27,5"

Nothing stops you but the general feeling is that the frame wont ride like it's intended to.........as the bb is lower to the ground, from what I read on my question.

But lets see what the guru's reply :)

It would work, but the gearing would be a bit off and your bb would be quite close to the ground... Geometry would be a bit messed up too, but it would be unique...

How long would you be willing to ride your Frankenstein bike before you could afford the wheels and fork?.

I reckon if you are riding it for a short period of time you may be able to but long term ie more than say 2 months would be a bit hardcore ..
