XTR 10 speed with 9 speed shifters

Hi all, i think the tital explains itself. here's a long shot but can an XTR 9 speed shifter work with an XTR 10 speed rear derailleur or are the ratios just too different? Wondering if i can upgrade slowly in pieces or all at once.

No you can't, Shimano changed the pull ratio with Dynasys.

 

You can however get a SRAM 9 speed shifter to work with a Shimano 10 rear derailleur. Search for SRAMano

I'm not sure, AFAIK they also changed when they went to 10 speed. You'd have to check/test it out.
