Just got hold of set of Vittoria tubbies that im about to install.

First thing i noticed was the valve core on these tubbies doesn't screw all the way out! this preventing me from pouring stans into the tubbie. Is there any other way of getting sealant into the tubbie?

heard from my LBS that tubbies are designed to be run WITHOUT having to run them with sealant! Have you run them without sealant and how successful have they been?

I run Conti Gatorskin tubbies with sludge....works well...I know some people use stans. The gators you can easily unscrew the valve and add the valve adapter. Kind of strange you cant unscrew the hole valve as how will you ft a valve extender?

@naas, thnks will look into it!

at the moment im thinking of trying out these tubbies first without sealant although i haven't heard too many success stories so i might be trying my luck!

@MTB_roadie, yes these valve cores doesnt screw out all the way.

u can still run a valve extender (which i am running) bt u need to leave the valve open inside the extender.

really dont see why they have designed it this way???

(knew i shouldv done abit more research before ordering)

The reason why you should use Pitstop is :

Weight - lighter than the stan's stuff as it is a foambased latex. Bit pointless going for lightweight tubbies and filling them with sealant!

Also does not form the dreaded "coral balls" inside the tyre. Stans and all other types of liquid sealants were designed for MTB tyres with large volume and no real weight issue...

Last benefit is that the Magnum cannister will allow you to fill some sealant into tubby and keep the rest when puncturing. It works as an inflator as well.

Vittoria Tubbies have always been designed with a non-removable core.
