New and older Sram Red compatibility

I understand the new look sram red crankset (starting at 2012) is only compatible with the YAW front derailer. What about the rest of the groupset? If I buy a new crankset and fd can I still use my current sram red shifters/brakes and rd?

Hey Jaco, I use the 2012 Red yaw FD with a 2011 Force group no problem.

I heard that if you change the shifters it's best to change the crankset but the rest plays nicely even if SRAM claims it doesn't.
