Ran the 10km in 49 minutes. PB for me so that was great.

35km was tough. I have done 100km MTB rides that was way easier. I think my time of 3 hours puts it into perspective.

But I loved it. These character building races prepares one well for Ironman.

Maybe next time they should give maps to everyone. Then at least people can revert to something if they are unsure....

Well done that is an awesome time. I battle to manage 6min/km over ten on the road so that on a trail run, huge respect!!!

Guess you did pay for it on the mtb a bit...

Ja, it definitely is one of the toughest around and the heat didn't help.

I agree, also love these type of events for the 'endurance' and 'suffer' factor and definitely helps build the mental side of things.

Ooh boy what did I miss ? Hell yeah would have loved that !

You have no idea.....

Next year if I don't do this race, I will still go. Even if it is only to watch the front runners go down some of those hills.

There where sections where I literally locked front and back brakes and still went faster and faster. I was eyeballing which bush would hurt the least and then aimed for it. The question is not if you would crash but how many times.

It was incredibly rocky as well so you didn't want to go down. I was lucky I guess.

Hi Guys.

Thanx so much for all the feed back. I am taking note of them all and will definatly be more prepAred in the future.

This was my first big Marathon race as I am used to doing lots of XC stuff in bloem. It has been a big learning curve. But im looking forward to better my services.

With regards to the Garfield that almost had to walk the full distance. I added a 20km witch was an easy one for the normal Weekend warrior. The 35 and 70(45) was advertised as a Tough ride that takes you out of your comfort zone. I gave lots of pictures where younger kids an old toppies are racing down the down hills with !!!!! As this was a new and exiting course. 90% of the people complaining about the climbs said they could have kept going, but people infront of them blocked the way.

In the future I might change the route to something a bit diffrent for the 35. Less climbs.

On the other hand. All the people doing the 35 on the correct route said it was one of their best races to date.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hope to have all of you back at the Eden next year to see my improvements. Or even just to have another chance on riding on that awsum route.

With regards to going back to the route. I will be the contact person. Planning on doing a trip to the Eden route once a month for Group rides. So watch the space.

Also working on a permanent number system for that route. So that you can gain access to the permanently marked route.

Best wishes

Ride safe

Don't let anyone give you *** regarding the technical nature of the route. It was well documented upfront so we all knew what we got ourselves into. I actually quite enjoyed it. Next maybe just try and put the first water point at 10km already.
