Super_mil Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) A run of the track from various practice runs on Saturday.Had to piece it all together due to getting things wrong and the fact that the jump section a the bottom took me forever to figure out. The track was quite different to the previous years tracks and was heaps of fun to ride and yet very challenging. Those would have been excavated during gold prospecting in the region as those mountains form the northernmost portion of the Barberton Greenstone belt. (I did my Honours near there at Agnes Gold Mine) Just some useless info for a Tuesday

(I did my Honours near there at Agnes Gold Mine) Just some useless info for a Tuesday Yeah those trenches weren't ideal and actually a couple guys got hung up in the trees on the RHS. The 1st trench was in the region of say 1.5m if I remember correctly, but it had been filled in. Another interesting bit was the two deep holes (I couldn't see the bottom of one of them) you can see them at 0:48 and one at 1:05 in the vid, both on the right that Dirk had protected with gates to prevent wayward riders from literally burying themselves. Yeah i noticed those prospect shaft entrances too ... those things are from prospecting in the early 1900's ... you DONT want to fall down those things. Some of them go down like 15 stories. I saw the gates against the adits and my immediate reaction was "EISH" dont want that to collapse as you ride past. Edited November 12, 2013 by nigelhicks

Geez, some of those rock and off-camber sections look incredibly tricky to negotiate.
