Only 3 gram weight reduction, but the lever now being closer to the bars may suit people, also seems to have better modulation with pull rather than push ' plunger'. the callipers stay the same so you should be able to merely change/ upgrade. I like it!

I have the 2013 R1 Racing brakes and love them. As for these cylinder is shorter so the lever is now closer to the bar plus the lever has been redesigned. As for the master cylinder now being put under tension rather than compression the wear and tear is reduced greatly. It’s like pulling something out of a pipe rather than trying to stuff it in. there are also now two bleed ports on each lever one top and bottom depending on which side you have your front and rear lever, so that bleeding doesn’t require brake removal.

For the R1 Racing start at 3mins.

Happen to work in a bike shop. So have had the pleasure of using nearly every brake out there. In the weight vs performance and power. These are untouchable. Initial bite is not as vicious as Shimano's so you don't have that on or off brake feel. So better modulation and feeling of when the wheel is on the verge of locking up, but still have enough power to shoot you over the bars in a hurry. Maintenance and upkeep is virtually non existent. Have cut and shortened the brake lines with no need to rebleed. They also have a great piston retraction system so clearence with rotors is very good. Setup is a cinch. They use dot 4 so you can get it anywhere. Price is no to bad when compared with xtr, xx, hope x2.
