I listen to music yeah. It's the only way I can get up hills. In the early morning I listen full blast, but when it gets later I turn the volume down a bit so I can hear the cars coming. At speed the wind noise is so bad you can't really even hear the ipod though so I don't know how you'd hear a car.

I don't think it's that much more dangerous, unless you are riding on very fast/busy roads. Some slower (slower driving) residential roads I don't think are too dangerous. But if you're riding on fast main roads or some of those winding roads by the coast then I think it best to keep your wits about you.

I've seen some guys cycling on the national road between knysna and george and the cars zoot along there at 140km/h +. If they come around a corner in the yellow line as they sometimes do and they encounter a cyclist it will not be pretty.

now, van has a very special place in my heart?and there's someone out there who knows why.

a lot of the stuff that makes it into my cd player, i get for review purposes (i have a tendency not to actually get around to penning the reviews though!).

Road: I find the Ipod too distracting and it reduces my traffic awareness.

MTB: Again it reduces my concentration. In addition, a nice shiny bike (under the mud) already makes you a mugging target. Why make the prospect even more appealing by showing off your Ipod?

IDT: It's the only way I can survive a session without falling off from boredom

hr, there's a story in there but I find all van lovers have a special reason for liking his music.

how about some reviews, in private, of the stuff you get esp. now I know you're taste goes beyond dolly parton!

will do.

i am particularly fond of "coney island" (i have version on a tribute album, voiced by liam nesson) because the song "takes place" around strangford loch, where i was born.

loved "astral weeks". used put it on and sit outside the studio and get stoned with a fellow dj (now someone rather famous) when i started my shows on rhodes music radio. the length of the songs meant i didn't have to rush!

Ok Nancy! As long as the said ladies are attractive (personality counts too!) on the bike or off' date=' its all good! Would be nice to cycle with the fairer sex! Cant remember the last time I did!![/quote']

Now this begs the question:

What do guys find "attractive" in a lady?

Is sexy about what she looks like or does some level of confidence and intellectualism count?

.... "she has a great personality" in guy talk generally means ..."she's F*ing ugly"
